Dhal curry or lentils Curry

 Dhal Curry


















Ingredients

  • 300 grams yellow dhal
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 spoon garlic 
  • 1/2 inch ginger paste
  • 1 chili (giteyo mirus)
  • 1 tomato
  • Maldivian dried fish (valomas or vaccum fish)
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 2 tea spoon turmeric powder
  • 2  tea spoon cumin powder
  • 2 tea spoon salt
  • 2 cardamom
  • 1 cup  coconut milk
  • 3 cardamon 
  • 8 Curry leaves 
  • 1/2 inchramp leaves (optioal)




PREPARATION

Add the dhal into water and 20 minutes.

Wash the dhal and cook it until soften (10 to 15 minutes), take the white foam and throw it, cook low flame for 5 minutes.

Cut the onions, garlic, ginger, tomato, dried,fish, tomato. Squeeze the lemon into the mix, add onion, ginger, garlic, fish, curry leaves, salt, tumreic, cumin, cardamon and mix by hand.

  
Add  the mix into dhal  and cook for another 5

Minutes, then add the coconut milk.

Cook in low flame for 2 to 3 minutes.







It is ready and preferred to eat with rice or flat bread (roti).

This is the old way of dhaal curry in Maldives.
